Frilly and Funkie - Chalk It Up!

Happy Wednesday!!
Big welcome to my newest so pleased to see you here, hope you enjoy my blog, feel free to nosey around! :)

Time for a lovely new challenge over at Frilly and Funkie and this week our hostess is the gorgeously talented Shelly Hickox! Her theme for this challenge is:

"Chalk is such a versatile medium and we want to see how you can use it in your vintage or shabby chic creations. You can choose faux chalk technique, chalk inks, powdered chalks, or even a stick of chalk - it's up to you!"

I chose to use Paperarsty Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paints in London Nights, Lilac and Snowflake. The colours blend beautifully.
I used loads of lovely gorgeous embellies from Linda's shop The Funkie Junkie Boutique (full list of goodies listed below) and started with an even white covering in Snowflake - seriously white chalk paint covers exceptionally well!

The beautiful wooden elements by Kaisercraft layered on top of crochet lace add texture and contrast.

I swear I can't do a piece these days without a bit of resin! :)

Behind the frame is a concoction of tissue paper, Distress Paints, dry wall tape, chit chat stickers and hidden behind layers of glossy accents.

Still playing and experimenting with the flowers using the Tim Holtz punch, usually love how they come out but I think the paper shouldn't have been so patterned.

LOOSE these dies by Tim Holtz, perfect for everything, Journals, scrapbook pages, and of course cards!!

Hope you're all having a lovely week so far, I'll be round to catch up soon!

Happy News! xx

Hello my lovelies!

Tonight I have some utterly wonderful news to share, it's such an honour... I can't even begin to tell you how incredibly excited I am by this, but I'm now a designer for:

Yup... not sure it has even sunk in for me yet, even though my first published piece is out this month in their magazine! I look at it, and then look at my husband saying "Is that me?" His response is now a groan followed by "Yes, Georgie, it is you". Seriously bonkers that my brain can't process it, hehe.

Happy happy happy!! :) Happydance!!

A huge thank you to Trish Latimer for inviting me to join their team and giving me this amazing opportunity!

Sorry just had to let the happiness out, been holding it in for awhile now :)

I'm popping back round slowly to visit all you lovely folks again. I think this is my first evening where I'm not trying to source paint, tables, sofa, cupboards, worktops, flooring, insulation etc etc :) and pics coming soon, promise, just need to tidy the damn place and go to war with the dust!

Hope you're all having a wonderful evening

Mixed Media World - Autumn Colours

Happy Sunday Afternoon!

We have a fabulous challenge over at Mixed Media World chosen by our talented Laine:

Your project can be anything mixed media as long as you use the beautiful colours of Autumn.

Today I'm sharing an art journal page with you:

My inspiration came from Elena Morgun, I love her work and her style, so organic in her approach, it was quite freeing not to worry about making this perfect! Plus it is an art journal after all...

I used some of my favourite sprays, Lindy's of course, in Summer Lovin' Sun, Kissing' Kenickie Coral, Merry Go Round Green, Mission Bells Brown and Opal Sea Oats. I also used one of my all time favourite stencils, it's by Stamplorations, called Leaf Prints. I combined it with Art Basics Modelling Paste, and then went over some more with TCW Mini Dots stencil.

Some Acrylic Silks for extra shimmer and splatters, one Wine and Roses and Pretty Peridot.

I just adore these warm colours that start appearing now, the land seems so inviting calming. The hustle and bustle of summer is over and we can start getting ready to cosy up the home for winter!

Here are some close ups:

Hope you've enjoyed and again, sorry it's short and sweet... But so so close! I'm hoping this week I can share some pictures with you of the extension. :) So excited I have somewhere to cook, we are plumbed too!

Have a lovely rest of the weekend!

Frilly and Funkie - Stamps Be Gone

Almost back in the land of blog! Very very soon I should be back round to visit everyone again and catch up on commenting where  I can! All I can say is a huge thank you to those who have been to still visit me when I haven't been to see you. But soon... :) Plus I will do a post with pics so you can see what all the drama is about!

Anyhoo - on with our new challenge over at Frilly and Funkie. Our hostess this time is the lovely and incredibly talented Pamellia! She has chosen the theme:

"How would you decorate your project if you didn't own any stamps? Embossing folders, stencils, or perhaps a little hand doodling? Well, let's put it to the test for this challenge. Other than a small sentiment, I would ask that you use no stamps at all on your vintage or shabby chic creations."

I chose a little mixed media shabby chic tag, with some gorgeous rose glass domes from Linda's shop, The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Learning from mistakes as we should in art, is that I need a bit more texture paste for the look I wanted. I wanted the domes to be set into the paste, which don't get me wrong they were, but not quite as encased as I would have liked - lol!

Instead of using stamps to create some extra, faded interest in the background I used Tim Holtz Remnant Rubs. The shimmery background was the ever so gorgeous Lindy Sprays, using Nantucket Pearls in the pink and green from the pack.

I used a mini Prima Resin Frame here to make the centre cluster of roses stand out and appear a little more ornate.

The whole tag, and the frame got a coat of Viva Gold in Old Silver. Just very lightly on the tag and around the edges and the frame had a solid colour of it.

So, again, another quickie from me, but yikes I cannot wait to get back to you arty lot, I've really missed you and your posts and the energy you bring. The time away has really made me realise just how much this world means to me and the people in it. Everyone has something valuable to give when they write their posts and even more, through the beautiful work they have created and are willing to share.

Gonna get soppy, so I'm stopping here.
Love to you all
Georgie xx
